Can I apply to the program through Campus France?

Depending on your nationality, you must follow the corresponding procedure: please refer to the Campus France website to find out more.

Our master is part of the Programs taught in English catalogue of Campus France, you will find it here(Program content will be updated soon)

In any case, you are expected to apply ALSO through our application platform.

What are the tuition fees to access the program?

Tuition fees for the 2024/2025 academic year were: 250€

Exceptionally in 2025/2026 for master students of Université Paris Cité , if you are a non-EU student, not coming as part of an exchange program, you will receive a partial exemption from registration fees. You will therefore pay the same fees as French and European students:

Masters Degree: National Tuition fees (250€ + 103€ of CVEC) annually

CVEC (campus tax) for the 2024/2025 academic year was : 103€

Before you can enroll in a higher education establishment in France you must prove that you paid the campus and student life tax (CVEC). This tax helps develop social, sanitary, cultural and sports services for students. It also supports the preventive and educative actions for the health of students. You can find out more about these services here: https://www.messervices.etudiant.gouv.fr/envole/

Which are the language requirements to attend the program?

The Master is taught completely in English.

English proficiency: Proficiency in English is mandatory as all courses are conducted in English, ideally C1 level is expected.

French Proficiency: French is strongly recommended, ideally A1-A2 level, given the compulsory internships throughout the program, it is essential to reach an A2 level in French quickly to increase your opportunities.

Keep in mind that having a good level of French is definitely a plus, as the opportunities for English-speaking internships is relatively limited in the startup ecosystem and public sector entities in Paris. You will always be asked to have a minimum understanding of French, at least to cope with the internal and external communication in every-day life!

Which university do you collaborate with?

Our Master diploma is acknowledged and issued by Université Paris Cité .

It issues 60 credits per year (60 ects in M1, 60 ects in M2).

Of course, you are free to only validate the M1 level and continue your studies elsewhere. You will be awarded a diploma certificate after fullfilling all the academic and adminstrative requirements.

Our master is recognized at an European and international level (currently called “LMD Master Program”).

What is ECTS?

The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a unit of measure of the educational components of an education program. In order to validate their academic year, students must qualify 60 ECTS.

What is the living cost in Paris?

Be aware that living in Paris is very expensive, at least 1.250€ a month on a student budget and provided you stay in a university residency.

Even a part-time job is hard to maintain with the commitments to the master, whose courses are mandatory and full time. Though a scholarship is not mandatory to access the Master, you have to be aware that supporting your studies in a city like Paris requires a serious funding plan.

Here is an estimated budget for a one-year stay in Paris:

  • Rent: The average rent for a 20m² studio in Paris and the suburbs is around €600-€800 per month. More informations about housing and housing support here
  • Add to this amount the costs of electricity, water and common charges.
  • Housing insurance and civil liability (compulsory) : 20-360€.
  • Grocery shopping : 3.000€ (a minimum of 200€ monthly)
  • University restaurant : 780 € (3,30€ for a full meal)
  • Telecommunication expenses : 200-300€
  • School supplies : 300€
  • Student travel pass (Carte Imagine R - up to 26 yrs old) : 370€
  • Miscellaneous (clothing, hygiene, sports, visits to museums, etc...)
  • These all make totalling around 1.250€ per month for a decent living in Paris.

The above amounts are subject to change and are given for general information purpose only.

Health coverage and other compulsory insurances

Health coverage in France

During your studies in France, the health coverage is a compulsory requirement. It is simple and free of charge through the French health insurance system.

To register to the French health insurance system, and receive a reimbursement for your healthcare costs, visit https://etudiant-etranger.ameli.fr/#/, and follow the steps listed on this dedicated site.

In addition to the compulsory health coverage, students can sign up for a complementary health insurance (mutuelle) that covers any medical fees that exceed the social security ceiling. You can sign up for the complementary health insurance of your choice (a student mutuelle, your parents’ policy, another complementary health insurance agency, etc.).

If you cannot afford an optional complementary health insurance policy, aid is possible via the CMU-C or ACS, as well as other programs, depending on available resources.

Civil liability insurance

Students must subscribe to a Civil liability insurance that covers the risks listed below. This type of insurance guarantees the repair of damages that may be caused by the student to a third person or animal, to possessions for which they are legally responsible or to their accommodation, regardless of whether the damages were caused through negligence or not.

Risks to be covered:

  • Civil Liability – private life (Assurance Responsabilité civile vie privée)
  • Civil Liability – student life (including internships)

Check that the complementary health insurance you choose offers a civil liability valid for both your private and student life. That way, you'll be covered on your place of study and the place of your internship. The civil liability insurance is now offered by most banks, in addition to major insurance companies. We suggest that you inquire at the bank when you open your bank account in France. A copy of your insurance will be required by a company where you do an internship.

How can I find my internship?

Many internship proposals are offered to our students during their schooling.

The International Students Support office at LPI has created a Google Chat group where the recent and most relevant opertunities are posted regularly.

AIRE Master students have access to these proposals through the dedicated Opportunities database of the Learning Planet Institute.

Additionally, students are highly recommended to look for internships starting from the first semester through LinkedIn, Welcome to the Jungle, JobTeaser

Will I be able to benefit from a sufficient network to validate 1 to 3 internships?

Our academic program benefits from a large network of labs and partners in the business and startup ecosystem in Paris and abroad. A non-exhaustive list of labs, institutions, and companies is at the disposal of AIRE Master students.

Additionally, LPI hosts a large number of events, festivals, seminars, conferences, and job datings throughout the academic year. These events provide ample opportunities for our students to interact with specialists and experts from diverse disciplines and sectors. Students are highly encouraged to participate in most of these to gain optimal benefits in terms of networking and expanding their interpersonal horizons.

Are there any scholarships available?

Alongside scholarships awarded by the French Governement, we propose to AIRE Master 1 and Master 2 students a limited number of scholarships:

  • EURIP scholarship rewards exceptional academic merit and aims at providing financial support to talented EU/Overseas postgraduate students who wish to benefit from an interdisciplinary training from the Masters up to the completion of a PhD within FIRE Doctoral School, and are willing to explore the interfaces of Interdisciplinarity, Sustainability and Planetary Health. More information about EURIP Graduate School
  • The Fondation Bettencourt-Schueller (FBS) scholarship, awarded to interviewed candidates, based on their excellent curriculum, motivation, and coherence of their Master 2 plan.
