A space for a cultural lens on black culture from around the world; to have discussions, activism, and connections. Our goal is to share black culture in the form of art (spotlighting black artists, films, food, stories), current research and researchers, and black history. Throughout the year, we will have monthly meetings with various themes or topics such as “being an ally” or “good hair”. Members may submit questions or present on black culture. We hope to promote black voices and answer difficult questions. In the future, we aim to invite local black artists to showcase their work. In addition, we will have highlights of black researchers or efforts to help black communities. We will also have fun but impactful events like karaoke, film screenings and other activities. I hope to have members of all cultures, who are interested in learning more about minority cultures and sharing perspectives. Our SDGs are; 9. reduced inequality, and 16. peace, justice and strong institutions.
