What you will learn

The M2 AIRE Life Sciences Master (Approaches Interdisciplinaires du Vivant, AIV Master) is a one-year program designed to train and empower a community of scientists who want to tackle the challenges of modern research through a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach.

At the AIV Master, you will study Life Sciences through an innovative, interdisciplinary approach based on the convergence of Biology, Physics, Computer Sciences, and many other disciplines. You will be able to build your own unique course portfolio, and to gain substantial, meaningful research experience thanks to our internship-rich program. You will be trained by prominent researchers from different backgrounds, who experience innovative teaching methods. You will also work in an international environment that promotes teamwork and collaborations, and thus build long-lasting ties with researchers and fellow students from all over the world.

Second year planning

During the second year (M2), students deepen their knowledge in Life Sciences and develop their abilities to critically analyze scientific works and to elaborate an interdisciplinary research project. This second year is designed to help students find their way into the research realm.

Throughout the year, students perform at least two internships, for a total of nine months. These internships give students the opportunity to learn research by doing research in labs, to meet with researchers, and to discuss recent interdisciplinary research articles and reviews.

At the end of the year, most of our students apply to a PhD program, in France or abroad. Our role is to make sure that all of the students know by the end of the M2 what scientific questions they wish to work on during the 3-4 years of their PhD, and that they have acquired the necessary background to tackle them. The courses of the second year are designed to fulfill this goal.

Testimonials

Why did I join? In order to bridge my computational background on one hand with my aspirations in neurosciences and psychology on the other, I wanted to build a strong foundation in life sciences

Abhay, LiSc M1 2020-2021

There's so much we can learn from each other, and I think that's the best part of CRI

Anu Susan, LiSc M2 2020-2021

This program has offered me a lot of opportunities to explore Life Sciences

Rachel, LiSc M2 2019-2020

It is a really nice opportunity to come and do internships in some of the best top research institutions in Paris

Guillermo, LiSc M2 2018-2019

I would suggest this Master to all students who have too many interests, who are misfits in the normal Master courses you find which focus on only one field

Shubham, LiSc M2 2018-2019

It’s the first time that I have the feeling that I am part of a scientific community

Hanifa, LiSc M2 2018-2019
